Lions, Tigers, and Supplements....Oh My!!
Have you ever walked down the supplement aisle at Whole Foods? The options are insanely endless! Should I take turmeric...oh wait, doesn't a celebrity endorse adding camu powder to your smoothies...I think I heard somewhere that magnesium will help you sleep...and I'm pretty sure every person that's a person takes pre-workout to give them more energy during the ol' sweat sesh. Whew, I'm tired just thinking about all of those things.

Here's the deal. I get a little nervous when celebrities, influencers, or whomever is the new hotness right now starts talking about what kinds of supplements you should take. The thing is, we all have different needs when it comes to vitamins, etc. And some of those needs can be down right medical. For example, after talking with my doctor about my family history (high blood pressure/cholesterol), we decided it would be a good idea for me to start taking fish oil and coq-10. Should you take those specific supplements too? The best bet is to speak with your doctor.
And while we are talking about doctors, make sure to find a doctor who shares your values when it comes to nutrition and fitness. It's important that you both have the same approach to wellness when it comes down to the nitty gritty. It may be hard to find one, but they are out there!
Anyway, back to supps. There are many harmless ones that you can add to your regimen, but please make sure to do your research. Don't just grab a bottle because Lisa Famous Pants says she does! Research what benefits and side effects there are, as well as, what prescriptions should be avoided with certain vitamins, etc.
Bottomline: research is your best bet! If you are interested in finding out what brands offer the most effective options, I encourage you to use labdoor.com. It is an independent company that tests the effectiveness, purity, nutritional value, ingredient safety, and label accuracy. You will be shocked at how many companies are not being as truthful as they should be!
