It All Depends

Before I was interested in nutrition, I thought that the popular diets at the time were a "one size fits all" type of situation. Weight Watchers, The Zone Diet, The Baby Food Diet, and extreme calorie restriction are just a few I tried. Did they work? Sure. I lost weight. Did I sustain the results? Um. No. Who wants to eat like that forever? AND, lots of the above mentioned diets were in no way healthy or provided the nutrition my body needed! I cringe to think about how I was treating my body, depriving her of much needed nutrients.

So what exactly does our body need in order to function at an optimal healthy level? Well, it all depends. Unfortunately, there isn't one way of eating that is beneficial for every single person. The amount of nutrients you need varies from person to person. Things to take into account include basics such as gender and activity level, and more specific things like hormone balance and amount of sleep you get each night (hello, lake of sleep newborn life).

It's important when you are looking for a nutrition coach to find someone that takes every detail of your life into account, like the things listed above. You want to find someone that will help you get results, AND teach you the healthy skills you need in order to keep those results. My personal approach is unique to most mainstream diets, in that, I take the whole person into account, start with small habits, and personally encourage you every step of the way. I've been through the process myself, and know what it takes to succeed, especially when our lives are busy!
